Her Body is Bible by FLETCHER

FLETCHER identifies as queer and it shows in her lyrics which are often dripping with sexuality. The “”Girls Girls Girls” singer noted in December 2021, that she identifies as queer and “attracted to strong feminine energy which just so happens to more likely than not be women”.

Lyrics

I found God the moment that I put my lips on yours
I thought, “This is what they’re talkin’ ’bout”
I forgot everything that’s broken in my heart
One touch, sippin’ Holy Water now

It’s just a feelin’, feelin’
It’s like an ocean wave (oh)
And she’s the freedom, freedom I need to taste

Amen, oh, her body is Bible
The only Heaven that I know (oh-oh, yeah)
Amen, oh, her body is Bible
The only Heaven that I’ll go (oh-oh, yeah)

Saw the light, at 4 a.m. we’re dancin’ in the dark
I like your T-Swift T-shirt on the ground
Hold on tight, when the world gets hot, it’s just likе paradise
All night, you’re so hot, I’m freakin’ out

It’s just a feelin’, feelin’
It’s likе an ocean wave (oh)
And she’s the freedom, freedom I need to taste

Amen, oh, her body is Bible
The only Heaven that I know (oh-oh, yeah)
Amen, oh, her body is Bible
The only Heaven that I’ll go (oh-oh, yeah)

It’s just a feelin’, feelin’ (oh)
It’s like an ocean wave
And she’s the freedom, freedom I need to taste

<Maybe> It’s My Fault by Willow Smith

Willow Smith has been called a queer icon and has been candid about her sexuality in the past. She has talked a lot about her experience as a bi-woman and that is certainly reflected in some of her lyrics. In “Maybe> It’s My Fault”

Lyrics

Met her at a party, I said, “She seems nice”
Every time I thought about it, I got butterflies
And I told you we agree that she’s alright (ah)
Never thought I’d be trippin’ over the last time
I said it was fine, yeah
Layin’ down, six feet under, it’s sublime
Shoulda saw the signs, now we’re in a fight (ah)

I don’t know
If I can forgive you

It’s all in my mind, it’s all in my mind
I try to rewind and all of the while
I’m hurtin’ inside, it’s your fault
Maybe it’s my fault
It’s all in my mind, it’s all in my mind
I try to rewind and all of the while
I’m hurtin’ inside, it’s your fault
Maybe it’s my fault

Said, “I could handle this”
That was your one request
Said I would need to be there in your distress
It’s terrible to feel this way

I don’t know
If I’m worth forgiving

It’s all in my mind, it’s all in my mind
I try to rewind and all of the while
I’m hurtin’ inside, it’s your fault
Maybe it’s my fault
It’s all in my mind, it’s all in my mind
I try to rewind and all of the while
I’m hurtin’ inside, it’s your fault
Maybe it’s my fault

Ah, ah
Ah, ah
Maybe it’s my fault
Maybe it’s my fault

A Girl Broke My Heart by Ellysa & Ash Morgan

There are a lot of songs about girls wanting to get with girls who like guys and this one falls into the same vein. It’s nevertheless still a catchy song, and it’s done done by two queer artists Ellysa and Ash Morgan who teamed up for the track.

Lyrics

A girl broke my heart
I don’t know where to start
She said she would love me forever
But now we’re not together
A girl broke my heart
Don’t know how it got so dark
(I don’t know)
I’m trying not to be bitter
(I hate her)
But I miss being with her
A girl broke my heart
You said you’d never loved a girl ’til me
(What did I see in her?)
You swore you weren’t just experimenting
You denied
Seeing him on the side
Always lied
About the stupid sh*t you’d hide
But girls weren’t really ever your thing
Girls like you
Are where trust issues come from
(Who knew girls were as bad as guys?)
Girls like you
Make me second guess everyone
A girl broke my heart
I don’t know where to start
She said she would love me forever
But now we’re not together
A girl broke my heart
Don’t know how it got so dark
I’m trying not to be bitter
(How did she have my heart?)
But I miss being with her
A girl broke my heart
I fell for all the pretty lies you told
(She said she was gonna marry me)
I was so blind to all of your control
I excused
Every time you’d refuse
To help me through
All the times I needed you
Now,
I’ll give myself the love that you’d withhold
Girls like you
Are where trust issues come from
(She treated me like actual trash)
Girls like you
Make me second guess everyone
A girl broke my heart
(Yeah she did)
I don’t know where to start
She said she would love me forever
(I kid you not)
But now we’re not together
A girl broke my heart
Don’t know how it got so dark
I’m trying not to be bitter
(No)
But I miss being with her
A girl broke my heart
I’m so done with girls like you
I’m over it
I’m over you
I’m so done with girls like you
I’m over it
I’m over you
A girl broke my heart
I don’t know where to start
I thought I would love her forever
I’m so glad we’re not together
A girl broke my heart
I’m coming out of the dark
I’m so done being bitter
I don’t miss being with her
A girl broke my heart
(You live, you learn)

Jenny (I Wanna Ruin Our Friendship) by Studio Killers

2022 saw Studio Killers’ “Jenny” go viral on TikTok in a big way. The song tells the story of a girl with a best friend named Jenny. The protagonist wants to be more than friends but is unable to confess her feelings for Jenny who has only dated men. Some parts about “stealing your stuff now and then” are actually borderline a little bit creepy, but it’s well-intentioned.

Lyrics

… Jenny, darling, you’re my best friend
But there’s a few things that you don’t know of
Why I borrow your lipstick so often
I’m using your shirt as a pillow case

… I wanna ruin our friendship
We should be lovers instead
I don’t know how to say this
‘Cause you’re really my dearest friend

… Jenny, darling, you’re my best friend
I’ve been doing bad things that you don’t know about
Stealing your stuff now and then
Nothing you’d miss, but it means the world to me

… I wanna ruin our friendship
We should be lovers instead
I don’t know how to say this
‘Cause you’re really my dearest friend

… I wanna ruin our friendship
I don’t know how to say this
‘Cause you’re really my dearest friend

… Jenny, take my hand
‘Cause we are more than friends
I will follow you until the end
Jenny, take my hand
I cannot pretend
Why I never like your new boyfriends

… Oh, your love for them won’t last long
Forget those amigos
Oh, your love for them won’t last long
Forget those amigos
Forget those amigos

… I wanna ruin our friendship
We should be lovers instead
I don’t know how to say this
‘Cause you’re really my dearest friend
Oh, your love for them won’t last long
We should be lovers instead
Oh, your love for them won’t last long
‘Cause you really are my dearest friend

… Oh, we should be lovers instead
(Jenny, Jenny, Jenny, Jenny)
‘Cause you really are my dearest friend
(Jenny, Jenny, Jenny, Jenny)

Gay For a Day by FLAVIA

FLAVIA is an Los Angeles-based electronic singer-songwriter and producer who grew up in Ireland and Italy. She produces catchy lyrics and isn’t shy to express her sexuality on her tracks like “Gay for a Day”.

This track is about being bi and exploring one’s sexuality. In the song, the character says she’s “got a great guy waiting at home”, but dreams about convincing the girl on the fourth floor to “be gay for a day”.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I‘m technically single
Though I’ve got a great guy waiting at home
You should know I‘m bilingual
And I can speak in tongues
This girl on the fourth floor
She‘s had my eye from day one
So I built up the courage, but my God
Everything I said was dumb

[Pre-Chorus 1]
She was coming out of her apartment and I said
“Oh, I like your dress”
And she was like, “Thanks”
And then I was like, “Hey, wanna grab a drink sometime?”
And she was like, “Oh, I have a boyfriend”

[Chorus]
If you could be gay for a day
I’ll show you how to parles Français
I’d take you to my favorite place
And it would be awesome
I’d paint you ‘cause you were my musе
Kissing you up on the roof
And maybe tomorrow
You would wanna be gay for anothеr day

[Verse 2]
My girls took me out, yeah
So I could dance, dance it off
I was so down about it
Another blow, another loss
You wouldn’t believe it
It happened again, just my luck
This girl grabbed my hand
My confidence shot back up

[Pre-Chorus 2]
So I said, “Would you like to grab a drink with me at the bar?
Yeah, you’re looking really pretty
And I think we could go far
Now I got a little courage and I thank the alcohol”
But she looked at me, so confused
Guess I’ll live my life in solitude

[Chorus]
If you could be gay for a day
I’ll show you how to parles Français
I’d take you to my favorite place
And it would be awesome
I’d paint you ‘cause you were my muse
Kissing you up on the roof
And maybe tomorrow
You would wanna be gay for another day

[Bridge]
(You could be gay for a day)
([?] yeah you look away)
(You could be gay for a day)
(Wanna be gay)
(Wanna be gay)

[Pre-Chorus 3]
Spooning and scissoring, I want you up on me
I feel the synergy between our bodies (kiss me on my body)
Twenty-four hours and I won’t get any sleep
You say the word and this could be our dream

[Chorus]
If you could be gay for a day
I’ll show you how to parles Français
I’d take you to my favorite place
And it would be awesome
I’d paint you ‘cause you were my muse
Kissing you up on the roof
And maybe tomorrow
You would wanna be gay for another day

[Outro]
(You could be gay for a day)
([?] yeah you’re looking gay)
(You could be gay for a day)

Gay for just a day

She has been a big advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. She lives what she preaches and incorporates her ethos into her songs like “For the Girls”.

Lyrics

Ten out of ten, all in a line
The air is sweet when we’re passing by, yeah, ooh
It hurts a little, don’t get whiplash
Don’t forget that (forget that)

Saltwater skin, hair in the breeze
Go eat your heart out like tangerines, yeah, ooh
Let’s break the tension like a Kit Kat
Yeah, you feel that? (Feel that?)

Save a kiss for the sun
Don’t you wish you could come undone?
Take a dip, join the fun
Just as long as you know that

Summer’s for the girls, the girls that like girls
The girls that like boys, the girls, the girls, the girls
Summer’s for the girls that run the night, girls
The change your life girls (yeah), the girls, the girls, the girls

don’t wipe out, one look and it’s lights out
What’s everyone gonna do, let’s find out
It’s not wrong, it’s right now
It’s not wrong, it’s right now

Way it hits on your tongue (oh, yeah)
Don’t you wish you could come undone?
Take a dip (take a dip), join the fun (join the fun)
Just as long as you know that

Summer’s for the girls, the girls that like girls
The girls that like boys, the girls, the girls, the girls
Summer’s for the girls that run the night, girls
The change your life girls (yeah), the girls, the girls, the girls

Surround me with the girls, I love being a girl
I’m ready for the girls, are you? (Ooh-ooh)
Surround me with the girls, I love being a girl
I’m ready for the girls, are you? (The girls, the girls, the girls)

Take a dip, join the fun
Just as long as you know

Summer’s for the girls, the girls that like girls
The girls that like boys, the girls, the girls, the girls
Summer’s for the girls that run the night, girls
The change your life girls (yeah), the girls, the girls, the girls

Surround me with the girls, I love being a girl
I’m ready for the girls, are you? (Ooh-ooh)
Surround me with the girls, I love being a girl
I’m ready for the girls, are you? (The girls, the girls, the girls)

Fucking Up What Matters by Tegan And Sara

Tegan and Sara are a Canadian pop duo. The twin sisters have been a voice for the queer community for decades now and 2022 has seen a number of new tracks from the band leading up to their upcoming 10th studio album.

Tegan Quin was quoted by Rolling Stone as saying the song “felt like an ode to the moment in your life when you realize that you have most, if not all of the things you wanted and you start to think about what would happen if you just walked away from it all, it’s the moment in the middle of the night when you start to daydream about something else, something you never imagined.”

Lyrics

You’re like a tattoo, something I can’t undo
I hope I got under your skin too

I’m not trying to destroy us, I just hate what we’ve become
Without you, I feel empty but around you, I feel numb
I treat you like a credit card I can’t afford
I drain you like a bank account until there’s nothing more

I’m fucking up what matters (matters), falling in love in my sleep
I’m fucking up what matters (matters), slipping outside while you dream
I’m fucking up what matters, falling in love in my sleep
I’m fucking up what matters, slipping outside while you dream

You’re like a tattoo, something I can’t undo
I hope I got under your skin too

I treat you like a cigarette, such a bad habit
Avoid you like alcohol, I can’t really stand it

It feels good to admit it, I can’t live without it
So I tried to cut you out (cut you out)
Well I tried to cut you out (cut you out)
It feels good to admit it, I can’t live without it
So I tried to cut you out (cut you out)
Well I tried to cut you out (cut you out)

I’m fucking up what matters (matters), falling in love in my sleep
I’m fucking up what matters (matters), slipping outside while you dream
I’m fucking up what matters (matters), falling in love in my sleep
I’m fucking up what matters (matters), slipping outside while you dream

I feel like nothing is ever the same, I feel like something’s about to change
Everything stopped, we hit the ceiling
I feel like nothing is ever the same, I feel like something’s about to change
Everything stopped, I lost the feeling

I’m fucking up what matters (matters), falling in love in my sleep
I’m fucking up what matters (cut you out), slipping outside while you dream (cut you out)
I’m fucking up what matters (matters), falling in love in my sleep
I’m fucking up what matters (cut you out), slipping outside while you dream (cut you out)

You’re like a tattoo, something I can’t undo
I hope I got under your skin too

Cool For The Summer by Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato’s 2015 hit single Cool for the Summer is once again making a resurgence in 2022. Thanks to a sped-up remix that was heavily circulated on TikTok, the song has once again brought this sex-positive lesbian anthem to listeners’ ears.

Cool for the Summer is about two women exploring their sexuality with a summer fling. When the song originally dropped, it was a certified banger. Upping the tempo on the remix doesn’t change that one bit, instead, it freshens it up for listeners, both old and new.

Lyrics

Tell me what you want, what you like, it’s okay
I’m a little curious too
Tell me if it’s wrong, if it’s right, I don’t care
I can keep a secret, can you?

Got my mind on your body and your body on my mind
Got a taste for the cherry, I just need to take a bite
Don’t tell your mother
Kiss one another
Die for each other
We’re cool for the summer

Take me down into your paradise
Don’t be scared, ’cause I’m your body type
Just something that we wanna try
‘Cause you and I, we’re cool for the summer

Tell me if I won, if I did, what’s my prize?
I just wanna play with you too
Even if they judge, fuck it, I’ll do the time
I just wanna have some fun with you

Got my mind on your body and your body on my mind
Got a taste for the cherry, I just need to take a bite
Don’t tell your mother
Kiss one another
Die for each other
We’re cool for the summer

Take me down into your paradise
Don’t be scared, ’cause I’m your body type
Just something that we wanna try
‘Cause you and I, we’re cool for the summer

We’re cool for the summer
We’re cool for the summer

Shh, don’t tell your mother

Got my mind on your body and your body on my mind
Got a taste for the cherry, I just need to take a bite
(Take me down)

Take me down into your paradise
Don’t be scared, ’cause I’m your body type
Just something that we wanna try (wanna try)
‘Cause you and I (you and I)
We’re cool for the summer

We’re cool for the summer
(Don’t be scared)
‘Cause I’m your body type (just something)
Just something that we wanna try
‘Cause you and I (you and I)
We’re cool for the summer

We’re cool for the summer

Curious by Lucy Whittaker

Lucy Whittaker’s Curious, might be considered a spiritual successor to Demi Lovato’s Cool for the Summer. It’s another song about women exploring their sexuality with one another. In Curious Whittaker tries to persuade another woman to give a relation ship with her a try. The other woman is in a bad relationship with a man and the sparks between her and Whittaker have been waiting to be ignited as she says “I can tell you’ve been thinking about it”.

Lyrics

{Verse 1}
You look in my direction a second too long (long, long, long)
It isn’t what you’re used to–that
Don’t make it wrong (wrong, wrong, wrong)
I wanna take control–I know you feel it
The tension in the air now between us
And even though I know you’ve got a thing going on
I wanna make you feel like

{Pre-Chorus}
Oooh ooh ooh
Every time I close my eyes
Oooh ooh ooh
I got you on my mind

{Chorus}
You know that you’re curious
So let me take care of this
I can tell you’ve been thinking about it
Cause he don’t give you enough
So how bout you switch it up?
I can tell you’ve been thinking about it

{Bridge}
Is there a reason when you’re with him you’re miles away?
When was the last timе he made you say
He madе you feel like

{Pre-Chorus}
Oooh ooh ooh
Every time you close your eyes
Oooh ooh ooh
You got me on your mind

{Chorus}
You know that you’re curious
So let me take care of this
I can tell you’ve been thinking about it
Cause he don’t give you enough
So how bout you switch it up?
I can tell you’ve been thinking about it

{Chorus}
You know that you’re curious
So let me take care of this
I can tell you’ve been thinking about it
Cause he don’t give you enough
So how bout you switch it up?
I can tell you’ve been thinking about it

{Verse 2}
So, baby, just give me control
Cause I can see I’m on your mind
I make you feel like
So come on a little bit closer
How bout you give me the time
To make you feel like

{Chorus}
You know that you’re curious
So let me take care of this
I can tell you’ve been thinking about it (uh-huh)
You know that you’re curious
So let me take care of this
I can tell you’ve been thinking about it
Cause he don’t give you enough
So how bout you switch it up?
I can tell you’ve been thinking about it

{Chorus}
You know that you’re curious
So let me take care of this
I can tell you’ve been thinking about it
Cause he don’t give you enough
So how bout you switch it up?
I can tell you’ve been thinking
About it (you’ve been thinking about it)
